I’m at Kia right now for the recall. My tires are a week old. My oil is a day old. My air filter is clean. My fluids are all good, EXCEPT for the brake fluid, which I forgot to top off this morning. It’s not dangerously low, but it is below optimal. So, here’s the game for you: what will they find wrong with my car? Will they notice the brake fluid? Will they make up a problem that doesn't exist?

Cabin filter! They always mention the cabin filter when I take anything in for a recall

Nothing, other than they want you to trade your Soul in.

I had an oil place try to sell me a cabin air filter on my Golf. They said what I had was dirty. There isn’t even a cabin air filter on that car! What are you smoking?

My money is on battery. That or they’ll recommend a coolant flush, maybe an ATF flush (your’s is auto right? IIRC the interval on those is 90k then every 60 after).

I'm curious what they would offer for it, honestly. Of course, I'd only do it if they gave me a straight trade for a fully loaded Telluride, so I really don't care what they want to pay.

I have always wanted to request those things at a dealer and see what happens.

Just a tip about the brake fluid. You typically don’t want to top off the fluid unless you are replacing the pads. Reason being. As you wear down the pads, the fluid level drops, eventually the brake light comes on once the level gets low enough, that should coincide with the pads being ready for replacement.

But if you too off, you can blow through the pads, and backing plates and blow out the pistons... assuming you are totally unaware of what any of the nasty noises are before that point....

Moral of the story, don’t top up brake fluid.

I like the attention to detail...the ID-10T formula specifically.

Tire rotation and brake system flush.
